I AM THAT GIRL

Director: B. Hayward Randall

Writer/Editor/Producer: Grace Rowe

Executive Producer: Michael Jaworski

Producer: Nathan Swisher

Cast: Grace Rowe, Michael Jaworski, Liz Stewart

Maxine (Grace Rowe, also writer/producer/editor) is an L.A. party girl, who subsists on cocktails and shopping sprees. Even with eighty-thousand dollars in credit card debt and only ten-dollars-per-hour at her accounting job, Maxine shows no signs of slowing down.

One night, she meets “Noodle” (Michael Jaworski, also Executive Producer) as he stumbles into a bar bathroom and shows his intolerance of alcohol. In contrast to Maxine, Noodle is a low-key, loner type, who she later finds out is planning a trip to the Sierras. Barely knowing him, Maxine somehow convinces Noodle to take her as well. While Maxine envisions fine dining and staying in five star hotels as she maxes out more credit cards, Noodle has a less glamorous plan. They end up camping in the wilderness of the Sierras, forcing Maxine to live without the comforts of her credit-card lifestyle.

Shot both in L.A. and the Sierras, the film shows the contrasting environments of the city and the wilderness. The surprising change of environment allows for a unique relationship to develop between Maxine and Noodle who open up to each other and confront their pasts. Both hilarious and moving, I AM THAT GIRL defies the traditional film genres and gravitates towards a different, unexpected kind of love story. (Adult Content and Language)

"As the writer, producer, editor and lead actress for I AM THAT GIRL, award-winning Korean-American filmmaker Grace Rowe truly makes this film a labor of love. With no big investors, she took on I AM THAT GIRL, making a low-budget independent feature film, without sacrificing quality. In 2003, Rowe garnered attention with her short film AMERICAN SEOUL, based off her one-woman show THE GRID LIFE, for which she wrote, produced and acted."
